“LINGUISTIC LANDSCAPE” – SERBIAN LANGUAGE AND SPELLING IN HUNGARY

Serbian language in Hungary: Status and perspectives of linguistic research (international scientific consultation)

The task of the Serbian Institute is to organize, assist and coordinate scientific research on Serbs in Hungary. The Institute builds the foundations for regular and organized research in certain areas of science. This means that in certain areas, previous results should be collected and the further course of research should be determined. The best way to collect information on research results is to organize a conference at which researchers from a certain field are present. Based on the exchange of experiences and opinions at the conference, the Institute develops specific projects and long-term programs in the field of linguistic research.

The Institute organized the first conference of its kind in November 2010 on the topic of ethnography.

The project Serbian Language in Hungary: Status and Perspectives of Linguistic Research (international scientific consultation) will achieve the following results:

  • getting to know the results of linguistic research to date
  • defining future research programs and projects
  • publishing conference materials
  • getting to know the working methods of other minorities in Hungary, Hungarian and Serbian experts, and exchanging experiences

Project target group:

  • Linguists from Hungary and their home country who are researching the language of Serbs in Hungary, or intend to do so
  • Hungarian and minority linguist researchers in Hungary
  • students, school teachers, primarily Serbs
  • interested intellectuals
