(Serbian Forum Project)
This small dictionary (perhaps more precisely a bilingual glossary) in its first version contains nearly two and a half thousand words and expressions from various fields (primarily administration, office work, law, minority rights and politics, finance, then economy, education, culture, media, construction, investments, urban planning, etc.) that Serbian minority self-governments, institutions and non-governmental organizations encounter in the course of their work. The authors and publishers had a very practical goal to help the work of Serbian minority self-governments, institutions and other organizations, and above all the use of the Serbian language in office and administrative work. Namely, while throughout history, Serbs in Hungary/Hungary, within their organizations primarily related to the church, carried out their administration (oral and written) in the Serbian language (within the church organization of the Serbian Orthodox Church, they still do so today), and during socialism, within the Democratic Alliance of South Slavs, everything was mostly done in the Serbo-Croatian/Croatian-Serbian language, today we are witnessing that, partly due to regulations that equate the administrative obligations of minority self-government with state bodies, administration – especially written – in our organizations is predominantly carried out in the Hungarian language, which is increasingly promoting the linguistic, and through it, the complete assimilation of the Serbian national minority in Hungary. One of the main tasks of the Serbian Forum is the protection of the Serbian language. The intention of the author and publisher is to contribute to the preservation of the Serbian language in Hungary by creating and publishing this modest tool.
Aware of the shortcomings in their work, the authors are already working on a second expanded (at least 5-6 thousand words and expressions) and corrected (linguistically verified) edition.
