FEDORA BIKAR: PETAR LUPA AND THE DANUBE ADVENTURE (BILINGUAL EDITION) – 2009

The bilingual historical and educational publication Petar Lupa and the Danube Adventure/Luppa Péter és úti kalandjai is the last work of the recently deceased Novi Sad historian Dr. Fedora Bikar, originally from Szentendre, which was published under the auspices of the Serbian Provincial Self-Government and the Serbian Institute. In this beautifully published book, or rather in two books in Serbian and Hungarian placed in one case, the author presents a Serbian translation of articles in Hungarian by Petar Lupa (1838-1904), a Serbian landowner from Pomás and a member of the Hungarian Parliament, which describe his adventures (from a sailing ship) in 1858 from Vienna to the mouth of the Danube into the Black Sea. In addition, Dr. Fedora Bikar presents the Lupa family and its heritage, and the Mandić family, which is related to the world-famous Serbian inventor, Nikola Tesla. In the richly illustrated edition, the reader will also be able to see the Serbian local community, life in Pomaz and the surrounding area in the 19th century. The foreword to the book was written by the former Speaker of the Parliament, Dr. Katalin Sili. The manuscript was taken care of and the book was published by Pero Lastić.
